HOW IT STARTED

It all started with my grandfather John. Growing up, I would watch him bring people together through his cooking. He owned a restaurant in Commack for many years. As a little girl, I would run into his kitchen on a busy Friday night and be in complete awe while I watched him create dishes effortlessly.
I loved the way the room lit up when he would come out of the kitchen or the way someone would react when he made a dish for them....it could have been the most simple thing but he did it with such love and passion that it showed through everything he did. He made people feel good through food.
I have always been stuck with this thought in every job that I ever had, whether it be waitressing or working in e-commerce as a professional, I always had this day dream of what it would be like to own my own business, and could it possibly be food?
I couldn't get the thought out of my head and a series of events led me to take the full plunge to work for myself and give this thing a shot.
While my grandfather has since passed away, I started my journey with my first business, cupcakes & everything chocolate which was a way to carry on his legacy by baking and bringing people together to enjoy a sweet moment with family and friends...
Growing up, I loved Saturday's because it usually meant I would be spending the day at my great grandparents house with my great aunts who would come take care of them and cook and clean...
my great grandparents lived next door to my grandfathers house and I would just hop back and forth all day baking and cooking and cleaning. I loved my trips into their attic, I sifted through all the vintage plates and christmas ornaments....It's where I found my love for vintage and little things...little knick knacks....The sicilians in my family loved their "curio's"....or curiosities closet, they were usually filled with china and porcelain dolls and all types of trinkets from italy, new york city in the 50's an 60's and of course those beloved almond favors that everybody gave out at their weddings...
I have fond memories of baking and growing vegetables in these insanely beautiful garden my grandfather created every year. He grew zucchini that was taller than me and even grew grapes in his backyard. He had a chestnut tree and fig trees that one would die for. We made sauce every year, hundreds of jars for family and friends..he had a pizza oven in the backyard that he built and we shared many summer nights out there.
I was really lucky to grow up with this part of my family and I try to carry parts of their traditions and I have little nods to them in some of the desserts and items that we have at The Treatery.
Sooo that brings us to the last 5 years...we have grown into The Treatery, which is now a sweet and savory bakeshop that also has a dessert trailer named Stella that we bring to weddings and events.
We have grown to have an infamous chocolate chip cookie that has been really well received to clients from the Northfork to Manhattan and beyond.
